Niu Niu

Niu Niu is a relatively simple game, prominent throughout SE Asia, played with a regular 52-card deck. All players play against the dealer. It is purely a game of chance, with no skills required.

Card Values

Ace – 9 are face value, while 10, Jack, Queen & King value is ‘0’. Card values are added together and in the case the total is 10 or more, the 10 figure is removed e.g. 9 + 4 = 3 (not 13)… 10 + 6 = 6 (not 16).

Rules of the Game

The player wagers on one of the following:

  • Equal
  • Double
  • Super Niu Niu
  • Jackpot – a side bet won if the player obtains a specific hand on the Jackpot list.

A player may place a wager on any one or 2 or all of Ante, Double or Super Niu Niu betting sections of the table. Once bets have been placed, the game begins. A roll of 2 dice shall determine where the cards will be dealt to which betting space. The player and dealer shall each receive 5 cards. The players shall arrange their cards to make the best possible hand (the dealer shall check and confirm) and the dealer shall also arrange their cards. The ranking of hands, from highest to lowest, are as follows:

  • Three-card hand and two-card hand are both ‘0’ points, known as a ‘Niu Niu’.
  • Three-card hand is ‘0’ points and the two-card hand has 1 – 9 points. The higher the points within this range, the higher the rank.
  • Not possible to make ‘0 points in the three-card hand.
  • In the event of a ‘tie’, the hand with the highest value card shall win. The values of cards, from highest to lowest, is:

K>Q>J>10>9>8>7>6>5>4>3>2>ACE

  • In the event the highest value card is also equal, the hand will be decided using the highest suit of the highest value card. The suit ranks, from highest to lowest, are:

Spade ♠ > Heart ♥️ > Club ♣ > Diamond ♦

Niu Niu Jackpot

  • Niu Niu Jackpot is an optional side bet with a progressive jackpot amount for a Royal Flush and Straight Flush. The player has a choice of whether to wager $2 or $5 and pays if the players hand is 3 of a Kind or better.
  • The $2 or $5 side bet will be collected after each round regardless win or loss.
  • In the very unlikely event that two players have a Royal Flush in the same hand, the first player to the dealer's right would win the Jackpot and the second would win whatever the jackpot is reseeded to i.e. $25,000. The reason for this is the dealer pays players from right to left.
  • In the very unlikely event that two players have a Straight Flush in the same hand, the first player to the dealer's right would win 10% of the Jackpot and the second would win 10% of what was left after the first player was paid.
